Police probe car theft racket/two men charged

Two men have been slapped with a list of charges connected with the apparent theft of a car, as well as drug and traffic offences as the police probe what Starcom Network News understands is an apparent car theft racket.

Starcom Network News has learnt that there has been a series of car thefts around the country with white Toyota Axios appearing to be particularly targeted.

The police Major Crime Unit and District ‘D’ Police Station personnel have arrested and formally charged 27 year old Reshawn Phillips, of Bonwell Road, St. Joseph and 29 year old Sherwin Forde of Bailey Alley, Redland, St. George for dishonestly assisting in the disposal of a motor car valued at 19 thousand dollars between the 25th of August and the 1st September this year.

Phillips has also been charged for having no driver’s license or insurance, failing to register the motor vehicle, failing to report an accident and having no number plates.

Meanwhile, in addition to the car theft related charge, Forde has been charged with possession, possession with intent to supply and trafficking marijuana.

Both were scheduled to appear before Magistrate Douglas Frederick in the District ‘F’ Magistrate’s Court today.
