The Rubis petrol station at Oistins, Christ Church, was closed, evacuated and cordoned off today due to the smell of gas in the area.

Fire service personnel as well as Rubis engineers carried out investigations to determine the source of the problem.

The problem was subsequently identified as a leak in one of the underground fuel storage tanks and the station remains closed.
