New twist in DLP “War”

New twist in DLP “War”

The acting President of the Democratic Labour Party Andre Worrell claims dissident elements have commandeered the party’s social media platforms and has also filed a complaint with the police over what he alleges is missing equipment from the party’s George Street, Bellville Headquarters.

Mr. Worrell issued a statement today following a meeting held yesterday and which was streamed on the party’s youtube page.

The meeting featured speeches by former DLP President Ronnie Yearwood, who has been expelled from the party, as well as DLP members who oppose Opposition leader and DLP Political leader Ralph Thorne.

The acting DLP President describes yesterday’s livestream as unauthorized.

He claims equipment is missing from the DLP headquarters and insists that any streams or posts on DLP platforms are not sanctioned by the leadership.

Meantime, DLP member Ricky Williams, a vociferous critic of the party’s new Political Leader, Ralph Thorne, has promised war over the ouster and expulsion of former DLP President Dr. Ronnie Yearwood and former General Secretary, Steve Blackett.

Mr. Williams who had filed a motion in court seeking to challenge the suspensions of Yearwood and Blackett was speaking at a meeting at the Ellerslie Secondary School that was streamed on the DLP youtube page.

He insists that he and others will resist the efforts to install new DLP leadership.
