Government warns that Barbados’ declining population presents a crisis that needs to be addressed and says it is now considering a number of proposals to deal with the matter.
Speaking in the House of Assembly today, Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley, said that some of the proposals contained in the new Barbados Population Policy document have far reaching implications.
She was speaking as the House resumed debate on a resolution to take note of the Population Policy.
Prime Minister Mottley stressed that the declining working age population has implications for social security and tax receipts and stressed that taking action cannot be further delayed.
