SSA working on post-strike backlog

The Sanitation Service Authority is working to erase a garbage collection backlog resulting from last week’s work stoppage.

SSA Chairman, Ramon Alleyne, tells Starcom Network News, operations have returned to normal after some SSA employees were off the job last Monday and Tuesday demanding disbursement of a promised incentive payment.

Mr. Alleyne insists that payment will be made to workers as soon as the details are finalized.

The National Union of Public Workers which represents the majority of the SSA employees had called the walkout a misunderstanding and had instructed its members to return to work.

However, Caswell Franklyn, whose Unity Workers Union represents some of the SSA workers is threatening another work stoppage during the ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup.
