After what appears to have been a stern warning by regional Ministers of Education, officials of the Barbados-based Caribbean Examinations Council have reversed a decision to discontinue four technical and science subjects.
And, in essence, they also promised regional education ministers there will be no repeat of such a decision without proper consultation with stakeholders.
The reversal has been announced by CXC CEO and Registrar, Dr. Wayne Wesley, in a news conference at CXC headquarters after a meeting with Caricom Education Ministers.
That meeting followed an outcry from parents and education officials across the region about what was seen as a unilateral decision by CXC to discontinue the four subjects: agricultural science, mechanical engineering, electrical and electronic engineering and green engineering.
Dr. Wesley promised better communication with stakeholders.
