As the 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season gets underway local insurance companies are warning that more than half the homes in this country are uninsured and this could present significant challenges if Barbados is hit by a major disaster.
President of the General Insurance Association of Barbados Randy Graham tells Starcom Network News that many properties are either underinsured or not insured at all.
He offered some numbers.
Mr. Grahama notes that construction costs in Barbados have risen significantly over the years with implications for the cost of rebuilding damaged or destroyed homes.
