Man seriously injured in car crash/arrest made following melee afterwards

One man has been seriously injured in a two car collision at Graeme Hall, Christ Church in which one of the cars overturned.

The accident happened just before 9 a.m.

Eyewitnesses told Starcom Network News that a motorist had stopped and got out of his car to buy coconut water from vendors near the Ministry of Agriculture when a passing vehicle struck him and broke his leg before crashing into his car and overturning.

The badly injured man was transported to hospital in a private vehicle.

His girlfriend and four year old daughter who were also in the vehicle were uninjured.

The driver of the overturned car also escaped any serious injury.

A coconut vendor told Starcom Network News what happened.

Meantime, tempers flared as friends of the people involved in the accident arrived at the scene.

After threats were made, the officers at the scene cautioned the individuals and eventually tried to make an arrest.

During that melee one of the officers fell and sustained an injury to his hand which was seen to be bleeding.

The subject of the arrest attempt fled the scene in a vehicle, which was pursued by officers and an arrest was made.
