NCPTA OK with keeping Common Entrance for another year

The National Council of Parent-Teacher Associations supports the decision to continue with the Barbados Secondary Schools Entrance Examination for at least another year as it believes this will allow for adequate input from all stakeholders before any switch.

This follows Minister of Education Kay McConney telling the Nation Newspaper yesterday that the exam will remain in place for the time being and that a paper based on the inputs from stakeholders is being compiled and then it will have to be presented to the cabinet.

General Secretary of the NCPTA, Nicole Brathwaite, believes it’s best that the Ministry of Education takes its time in deciding on a replacement for the common entrance exam.

Ms. Brathwaite is of the view that pushing back the switch for at least another year is in the best interest of all stakeholders.
