Animal farmer Andrew Dickson who this week raised alarm over a stolen cow says he has recovered the animal but now faces a new dilemma after several people came forward to claim ownership of it.
The St. Joseph farmer had circulated a video on social media offering a reward of up to seven thousand dollars for information that led to the recovery of his Angus cow that he said had been stolen.
The story, along with the alleged recovery of the animal, has been covered by various news outlets.
But what was thought to be a happy ending when Mr. Dickson reported the animal had been found, has taken a new twist, with several people claiming they had either sold or bought the cow.
It’s now a matter of who can provide the police with proof of ownership.
Mr. Dickson says the police are stressing the need for livestock farmers to place identifying marks on their animals.
