Barbados police have seized more than eight million dollars worth of cocaine and marijuana and arrested four men on a boat that was intercepted off Barbados.
The Barbados Police Service says the three Barbadians and a Venezuelan were on a vessel that was intercepted about 18 nautical miles southwest of South Point, Barbados on Thursday, April 11th.
When the vessel was searched police officers found a number of packages that contained what appeared to be marijuana and which weighed more than 13-hundred pounds.
They also found about 150 pounds of what’s suspected to be cocaine.
The drug haul has a total value of more than 8.2 million Barbados dollars.
The four men have been charged with possession, possession with intent to supply and trafficking cocaine and marijuana.
The four accused are 41-year-old Christopher Johnson of Bannister Land, Martindale Road, St. Michael who was the captain of the vessel, 42-year-old Roland Coward of Salters Land, St. George, 34-year-old Zico Graham of Simmons Land, Rendezvous, Christ Church, and 33-year-old Wilmer Hueto, a Venezuelan national.
They appeared before Magistrate Carolyn Ward-Sargeant at the District ‘B’ Magistrates Court yesterday, April 18th, and have been remanded to Dodds Prison.
They are scheduled to reappear in court on May 2nd.
