Two More Killings in St. Lucia Crime Spike

St. Lucia police are investigating the circumstances that led to the discovery of the bodies of two men at a settlement near a landfill last night.

In a statement, the police said that one of the bodies has been identified as the son of a man who was killed last year in Vieux Fort.

Meantime, the St. Lucia police are are yet to identify the second victim following the discovery of the bodies with gunshot injuries at Deglos.

Media reports said members of the public found one of the bodies and alerted the police, who discovered the other deceased while combing the scene.

Last year, the St. Lucia authorities were forced to close schools in Vieux Fort following an upsurge in violence and murder.

The island was also forced to seek assistance from the Barbados-based Regional Security System (RSS) in implementing 24-hour police patrols. This was among measures in response to the deadly gun violence.
