Two Dodds Staffers Questioned by Police Following Spending/Purchasing Probe

A prison officer remains in custody while a member of the accounting staff at Dodds Prison has reportedly been questioned and released over allegedly unaccounted for items purchased by the prison.

Starcom Network News understands that an investigation was launched after a number of items that were apparently purchased for the St. Philip prison could not be found in the facility.

Starcom Network News has also learned that a prison officer has been in police custody since Monday evening, while a civilian staff member was taken into custody on Tuesday but has been released.

Sources tell Starcom that the missing items include two dryers, a fridge, and a washing machine.

We understand that one of the items has been recovered by police.

Starcom has been told the probe is also focusing, allegedly, on money that has been spent but is unaccounted for.

There are allegations of items being purchased on behalf of the prison without compliance with the required procedures, such as purchase orders, which would be a criminal offense.

This would also result in the suppliers not being paid.
