BUT Concerned About Violence In Schools

The Barbados Union of Teachers is concerned about what it says is increasing violence in schools and wants action taken to address it including increased security.

BUT President Rudy Lovell has again raised the issue following an incident yesterday where two school boys were injured, one suffering a serious stab wound, during a brawl near a St. Michael school where the boys are students.

Two of the students have been suspended from school as a result of the incident.

Mr. Lovell sees this as part of a worrying trend.

In relation to another matter, Mr. Lovell complains that loud noise from the construction of the new Barbados Fire Service headquarters at Pine Plantation Road is disrupting the nearby Ann Hill School.
