Barbados tourism officials predict the country could achieve record arrivals for the 2024/25 winter season as they report significant progress in boosting airlift into the country.
Minister of Tourism and International Transport, Ian Gooding-Egdhill, was providing an update on the tourism performance over the past year and providing projections for the months ahead as the estimates debate continues in the House of Assembly.
He told the chamber that increasing airlift has been a major strategy focus as this is key to increasing the arrival numbers.
The Tourism Minister also outlined a plan to seek to ensure that taxi operators get more of the business from the cruise ship visitors arriving at the Bridgetown Port.
He was responding to a question from senior minister Dr. William Duguid about what was being done to assist taxi operators.
