Temporary Work Stoppage at Mangrove Landfill

Management of the Sanitation Service Authority has met with workers at the Mangrove Landfill over issues that caused some of the staff to temporarily stop work this morning.

The landfill workers were demanding that the authorities address a number of concerns including the water supply and toilet facilities at the depot there.

Union shop steward Terry Carter spoke to Starcom Network News.

The staff subsequently returned to work after steps were taken to address their concerns.

The SSA management later met with the Mangrove staff.

The SSA’s public relations officer Carl Padmore insists that the workers at Mangrove were not on strike but admits there were concerns that were addressed.
