A family is mourning the life of a young man who they believe has died in the waters of Cobblers Cove beach, near Speightstown, in St. Peter.
Starcom Network News understands that 21 year-old, Darius Cadogan, and a group of friends went to the beach for a swim around 10 o’clock yesterday when he got into some difficulty.
Family members say his friends tried to help him but their efforts were futile.
Although his body has not yet been retrieved, it is believed that the young man has drowned.
Darius’ visibly distraught Grandmother, Marion Harvey, was at the scene and described the situation as a tough experience.
A watersports operator at the Cobbler’s Cove Hotel said he was alerted to the situation by a lady staying there.
He said when he got to the area, he realized the young man had already gone under the strong currents.
He explained that the area is not suitable for swimming.
