A man has been arrested in connection with an incident at the St. Philip polyclinic in which a nurse was allegedly threatened with a knife.
Starcom Network News understands that a suspect was detained today and is in police custody.
The polyclinic remained closed yesterday as organisations representing the nurses demanded increased security at the medical facilities including metal detectors.
One union leader interviewed by Starcom Network News speculated that there might be a link between the incident and a spate of violent events in St. Philip and felt those in authority should ensure all measures are in place to ensure the safety of staff at such facilities.
