The National Petroleum Corporation says a reported gas leak in Bridgetown has been resolved.
An NPC news release states that at approximately 9:49 a.m. today an NPC team returned to Tudor Street and its environs to conduct a further leak detection survey.
The release notes that the Corporation had isolated the gas line in the same area where traces of methane was detected the previous day.
According to the NPC statement, the portable methane detector, which measures the level of natural gas present in the area, was utilized once more and it was confirmed by the NPC Team that no methane, natural gas odor, was detected.
The NPC also says officers of the Corporation have spoken with several members of the business community regarding the original complaint and that feedback was received advising that the natural gas scent was no longer present.
The corporation’s acting General Manager, Ian Bradshaw, also points out that there is ongoing pipeline replacement work to replace the old cast iron pipeline along Highway 7, My Lord’s Hill and Bridgetown.
He says that, therefore, during these continued works there is the possibility the public may experience suspected gas leaks and strong scents of gas.
The NPC says it will continue to monitor the area and updates will be provided.
