Some of the money promised to the severed former Barbados Agricultural Management Company Workers has started to hit their bank accounts just in time for Christmas.

One of the former employees of the defunct state agency tells Starcom Network News the vacation and pay in lieu of severance notice money started arriving in their bank accounts from yesterday (Friday) and the rest of the direct deposits should show up in bank accounts over the weekend

The BAMC was officially privatized this week and scores of staff were handed severance letters on Monday with the indication that vacation and pay in lieu of notice money would be disbursed.

Some of the now unemployed people had complained that they needed the money to shop for Christmas.

Agriculture Minister Indar Weir promised that fervent efforts were being made to get the money into the accounts as soon as possible.
