A well-known street character has been remanded to Dodds Prison after being charged for stealing a number of valuable historical artifacts from the museum of the Barbados Parliament.

Starcom Network News understands that Anthony Fitzpatrick Lynch, who is known to the public as Ninja Man is currently being held at the St. Philip prison after he appeared in court last week and was remanded.

Three weeks ago Speaker of the House of Assembly, Arthur Holder, told the chamber that a suspect had been identified in the case of the theft of more than a dozen historical artifacts from the museum at the Parliament Buildings. The alleged theft took place last October.

Mr. Holder disclosed that there were finger prints and camera footage of the suspect who was described as a known individual.

Mr. Holder listed the 13 stolen items including artifacts of major historical value that belonged to former Prime Ministers.

They included a brief case that had belonged to Sir Grantley Adams as well as the royal blue tuxedo, black bow tie and yellow cummerbund worn by Barbados’ first Prime Minister Errol Barrow during the independence ceremony in 1966.

It’s unclear whether any of the items has been recovered.
