Electricity rate hearing intervenor Tricia Watson believes the High Court will uphold the Fair Trading Commission’s decision to turn down the Barbados Light and Power Company’s request for a rate hike.
The power company has served notice that it plans to challenge in court the FTC decision and points out that this is the first time it’s taking such a step in response to an FTC ruling.
But Ms. Watson, an attorney at law, and a lead objector to the BL&P’s rate hike application has dismissed the power company’s statements as PR “spin”.
She explained why she’s confident the FTC ruling will be upheld.
Ms. Watson’s major concern is that the appeal keeps in place, at least temporarily, the interim rate that was granted.
