Psychiatric professionals are seeing an increasing number of individuals, including young people presenting with suicidal thoughts and a number of factors are to blame including financial problems and family pressures.
Senior Consultant at the Psychiatric Hospital Dr. Brian Mclaughlin, tells Starcom Network News more people are displaying symptoms of anxiety and depression.
He was speaking to Starcom Network News against the background of a spate of suicides the latest such tragic incident being the death of a 17 year old female student of a secondary school.
He notes that many young people are being affected.
Dr. McLaughlin says money problems and drug abuse are also often key factors in the emotional distress people experience.
