Rural Water Outage

A large part of rural Barbados has been without water due to a temporary shutdown at the Bowmanston Pumping Station resulting in complaints from several Barbados Water Authority customers.

Ambrose Grosvenor, a resident of St. George, points out that people in various St. George communities have not had running water since Sunday.

Meantime, The Barbados Water Authority has issued a statement apologizing to customers in some areas of St. George, St. John and St. Philip.

The BWA says the problem has resulted from the Bowmanston Pump Station in St John being offline.

The water company says pumping was shut off to prevent discoloured water being supplied to customers due to heavy rains.

The BWA says it is making adjustments to the distribution system to bring water from adjacent systems into the affected areas.
