A Barbadian woman has been hit by two cars and killed in New York, in a gruesome case that has attracted media attention there.
Seventy nine year old Yvonne Sandiford was originally from the Garden, St. James before immigrating to New York with her family many years ago.
New York police have launched a search for two drivers involved in the hit and run that happened around 6:30 p.m. yesterday (Thursday) in Crown Heights.
Police say one car hit Miss Sandiford as she was crossing the street, dragging her down the road where she was hit by another car. Both drivers sped off.
Miss Sandiford was the mother of 10 children. One of her sons expressed the family’s grief in this ABC report.
