A man has drowned in an irrigation pond at Guinea Plantation in St. John.
Seventy-year-old, Carlisle Beckles, who was a worker at the plantation, was said to be trying to retrieve water from the pond using a bucket when he slipped and fell in at around 9 am.
His body was retrieved from the pound about ten minutes to noon.
Wayne Beckles, the nephew of the deceased, described the victim as a quiet and helpful man who was a caretaker at the plantation.
