A man was shot at the Ivy, St. Michael last night, the latest in a spate of shootings over the past seven days – this most recent one prompting residents of the Ivy to call for the return of the police post that was once stationed there.
Last night’s incident follows the shooting of two men at Bayville, St. Michael on Saturday night and a fatal shooting at Lower Carlton, St. James in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The police say that at about 9:36 last night their Operations Control received a report from an anonymous caller stating that a man had been shot in the area of 4th Avenue, The Ivy.
Officers responded and on arrival, learnt that a male in his late 20’s had been shot in his left thigh while at a shop in the area.
The victim was transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in a private motor car.
When Starcom Network News visited the area this morning, residents shared their concerns about the matter.
She says the police post was removed a few months ago but after a quiet period the gun violence has flared again.
