Springer Principal Apologises for Drill Debacle as DLP President Calls for Heads to Roll

The Principal of the Springer Memorial School Cheryl Gill has issued an apology for the drill at the school today that led to panic among students and caused worried parents to rush to collect their children.

The Government Hill institution was conducting a simulation to test its security preparedness.

It involved a scenario of masked men armed with cutlasses knocking on classroom doors supposedly in a search for a particular individual.

But it created terror among the students at the all-female school with some of them reportedly fainting.

Amid a torrent of criticism from parents and members of the general public, the school’s principal went on VOB’s Down to Brasstacks call-in program to try to respond to the concerns.

Meantime, President of the Democratic Labour Party, Dr. Ronnie Yearwood, also speaking on Down to Brasstacks, called for the resignation or removal of the Minister of Education and the Chief Education Officer.
