Last week’s island-wide power outage is under investigation by the Fair Trading Commission and the Barbados Light and Power Company could be subject to penalties depending on the outcome.
The FTC’s chief executive officer, Dr. Marsha Atherly-Ikechi tells Starcom Network News reports on the matter will be reviewed and the findings will determine the commission’s response.
Dr. Atherly-Ikechi says the FTC has to decide whether the company was at fault and if so what is the penalty that will be imposed.
In the meantime, the FTC CEO advises electricity customers that any claims should first be submitted to the power company.
