Tony Layne of Piper’s Avenue, Bayland, St. Michael has been identified as the victim in this morning’s drowning at Browne’s Beach, St. Michael.

The police say his unresponsive body was found floating in the water about 5 30 this morning.

A group of beach goers who were swimming noticed an object in the water and as they got closer to check realized that it was a human body.

One of the men then pulled the body out of the water and onto the sand.

A medical doctor pronounced death at the scene and the body was identified by a friend.

Meantime, the head of the NCC’s lifeguard service Dave Bascombe, speaking at Browne’s Breach, urged the public to be more careful when going to the beach.

He advises that especially elderly people should not swim alone.
