A male teacher has been charged with indecent assault of an eleven year boy and has been remanded to prison after appearing in court.
Thirty nine year old, David Griffith, of St Leonard’s Avenue, Westbury Road, St Michael today appeared before Magistrate Deborah Beckles in the District ‘D’ Magistrates’ Court in St Thomas accused of indecently assaulting the boy on July 22nd.
Griffith was not required to plead to the indictable charge and has been remanded to Dodds Prison for the next 28 days.
Sergeant Victoria Taitt objected to bail for the accused, while attorney-at-law Neville Reid argued that his client should remain free pending trial.
In the end, Magistrate Beckles ruled that Griffith be remanded until October 4th.
