Minister of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs, Kirk Humphrey says his ministry will launch at month end the One Family programme which aims to help a thousand needy families.
Mr Humphrey says 50 social worker have been hired to facilitate the programme and currently over 200 hundred families have been chosen and are being assessed.
Mr. Humphrey spoke to Starcom Network News on the sidelines of an awards ceremony and reception for 29 special needs students who successfully completed the Barbados Secondary Schools Entrance Exam.
He says the programme will run for two years.
