Three Men Charged for Massive Marijuana Haul

The police have charged three men in connection with raids that netted more than 800 pounds of marijuana valued at more than 1.4 million dollars.

Sixty three year old Joseph Codrington of Sherbourne No. 3, St. John was charged for permitting his premises to be used for the production of marijuana on Tuesday, 15th August.

This is in relation to a search warrant which was executed at his residence by the Narcotics Unit and Restore Order personnel where 26 marijuana plants were found in his back yard.

Also charged in relation to the same twenty-six plants was 54 year old Desmond Eastmond of the same address.

He was charged for possession, trafficking, possession with intent to supply and cultivation of marijuana.

Eastmond also faces similar charges in relation to thirteen 13 bales of marijuana weighing approximately 344.6 kilograms with an estimated street value of one million, three hundred and seventy-eight thousand, four hundred dollars Barbados currency.

This was as a result of an operation conducted on the 14th of August by the Narcotics Unit at Edgecliff, St. John.

The marijuana was discovered in a vehicle which is owned and was being driven by Eastmond.  

Meantime, 38 year old Jamel Maughn, of Zores Land, St. John was charged with possession, trafficking  and possession with intent to supply in relation to 22.7 Kilos of marijuana with an estimated street value of 91 thousand, 400 dollars which was found at his residence during the execution of a search warrant by the Narcotics Unit and C.I.D Central personnel on the 14th August.

All three appeared in Magistrates Court last Friday. Eastmond and Codrington were both remanded while Maughn was granted bail.
