The Barbados Tourism Marketing Incorporated has ended the contract of its CEO Dr. Jens Thraenhart.
Chairman of the BTMI Board of Directors, Shelly Williams, tells Starcom Network News that Dr. Thraenhart’s contract was ended last month.
A BTMI statement discloses that they mutually agreed to part ways with the CEO effective July 14th.
It adds that a search for a new Chief Executive Officer will be conducted.
In the statement the BTMI Chairman, Mrs. Williams, thanks Mr. Thraenhart for his service.
She is quoted as saying: “We have reviewed the BTMI’s business and operations and strategy going forward and we have agreed that the BTMI needs to go in a different direction to ensure the growth of Barbados tourism.”
Starcom Network News understands that Craig Hinds is acting CEO, in the interim, and that a Barbadian tourism veteran has been brought in as a consultant and will also be assisting with the search for a new BTMI boss.
Asked about a timeline for hiring a new CEO, Mrs. Williams told Starcom Network News that process will be completed “in short order”.
Meantime, Dr. Thraenhart already has a new job. He has been appointed to the executive board of the African Asian Union and will be based in Bangkok.
