Ports Not For Sale Assures PM;$300M Deal Best Option

Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley has emphasised that neither the sea nor airports will be sold and explains the rationale for outsourcing management of Grantley Adams International in a 300 million dollar deal.

Miss Mottley was speaking as the House of Assembly debated and then passed a resolution on the Memorandum of Understanding for a private/public sector partnership with Dubai investors.

Miss Mottley disclosed that passenger bridges will be included in the extensive improvements planned for the airport under a deal that includes many millions of dollars of investment for the country and revenue for the government.

Meantime, Minister of Tourism and International Transport, Ian Gooding-Eghill, also strongly insisted the airport agreement is a good deal for the country.

And, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade and Senior Minister Coordinating the Productive Sector, Kerrie Symmonds, believes the private/public sector partnership could help transform Barbados into an international travel hub and upscale destination.
