Gov’t & Savvy Proprietor to Meet This week

Talks take place this week between the proprietor of the Savvy beach facility at Bay Street St. Michael and senior government officials in an effort to try to resolve a dispute over the property.

Attorney General Dale Marshall has said that the beach front land was sold to businessman Allan Kinch by the previous government but the current administration wants to reacquire the property for public use.

Mr. Marshal said in a statement that government will seek to negotiate with Mr. Kinch as a first option but if they cannot reach an agreement,  the Land Acquisition Act will be used to acquire the properties and the Court will be asked to decide the amount of compensation.

Mr. Kinch has been quoted as having said he purchased the land for four million dollars and would be willing to accept current market value for it.

The businessman tells Starcom Network News he has been asked to attend a meeting on Wednesday with the Attorney General and Dr. William Duguid, senior minister with responsibility for coordinating infrastructural projects.

The meeting was initially to be held last Friday but was postponed.

Mr. Kinch says he has made three suggestions for an amicable solution with regards the parking issue and awaits a response.
