The body of a young woman was found hanging at a shop at Pelican Village, St. Michael last night in what is suspected to be a suicide.

The deceased has been identified as 23 year old Ashley Monique Mayers of Lodge Crescent, Lodge Hill, St. Michael.

The police say they receiving a report about 730 pm and responded to a shop located at Pelican Village, where they confirmed the lifeless body hanging from an extension cord which was tied over a door frame within the building.

The deceased was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical doctor.

The body was discovered after the young woman’s mother hadn’t seen her for a while and went to the shop to check.

The door was locked but she managed to peep into the shop and saw the body.

She then contacted the police.
