It was a morning of tragedy with a suicide by hanging in St James and a drowning in St. Peter.

A 14 year old girl discovered her 54 year old mother’s body hanging at their residence.

Self-employed Michelle Jordan had apparently committed suicide following a battle with a series of personal challenges.

The police say they responded to Hartland Road, Haynesville about 6 40 and on arrival found the body of a female hanging in a bedroom of the home.

A medical doctor pronounced death at the scene.

Neighbours expressed their sadness and shock at what transpired.

MP for area Sandra Husbands visited the home to console the relatives.

She reflected on the tragedy.

Ms. Husbands described the deceased as talented woman who appeared to have been overwhelmed by a number of challenges.

Ms. Husbands urges families and communities to support each other more.
