BRA Land Tax Crackdown

BRA Land Tax Crackdown

Companies and individuals owe the Barbados Revenue Authority tens of millions of dollars in property tax and the agency has served notice that it intends to collect.

The BRA will be auctioning some of the properties next week.

Communications Manager of the Barbados Revenue Authority, Carolyn Williams-Gayle, tells Starcom Network News that the properties are being sold to recover land tax arrears that date back more than a decade.

Mrs. Williams-Gayle says that since the BRA made known its intention to sell the properties some of the owners have been rushing to make arrangements to pay.
