The Barbados Water Authority warns that a prohibition notice is still in place despite recent rains while stressing that it could take months for the rain that fell to filter through to key water wells.
The BWA’s Manager of Well Resources and Environmental Management, Alex Ifill, made the point during a media briefing ahead of a tour of the authority’s key Bowmanston facility.
Mr. Ifill points out that while levels in some BWA wells have fallen, the current drought is not yet as severe as that of a few years ago.
He says the restrictions now in place have been implemented as a precaution.

Meantime, the BWA’s Director of Engineering, Charles Leslie, pointed out that there’s provision to accommodate commercial operations such car valets.
