Some members of BICO’s mobile retail sales team are on strike following a disagreement with management over changes to the company’s plug-in charges.
This morning, at least six of the ice cream van salesmen gathered to protest at BICO’s headquarters at the Harbour Road.
The independent contractors were informed via letters that plug–in charges for the ice cream coolers will increase by almost half starting next Monday.
One of the mobile retailers, David McClean, says while they have overlooked some grievances in the past, they are not letting this one go unchallenged.
He says the retailers will be seeking a meeting with the company’s management to see how best the matter can be resolved.
