Barbados Listed as World’s 18th Most Expensive Country

Barbados is listed in a survey by an international media house as among the top 25 countries in the world with the highest cost of living this year.

A report published by Yahoo Finance lists Barbados as the 18th most expensive place to live.

In its analysis, Yahoo Finance cites a number of factors that have driven up prices globally including the Russian invasion of Ukraine and what it says was massive stimulus spendingby countries to counter the effects of coronavirus pandemic but which resulted in record high inflation.

Responding to the report, President of the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Anthony Branker , tells Starcom Network News he believes Barbados is already on the right track to reducing the cost of living..

He also thinks that reducing imports and focusing on renewable energy will be vital to reducing the cost of living here.

He explained what he thinks are some of the factors that contribute to costs here and led to the Yahoo ranking.

And on the streets of Barbados the cost of living still a concern for many.
