Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley has again been outlining a plan to make Barbados a major agricultural hub to significantly increase food production and expand exports.
She was speaking this morning during a ground breaking ceremony for the Dukes Agricultural Research Park, a multi-million dollar development project which is a joint initiative of the government, the People’s Republic of China and UWI, Cave Hill Campus.
Ms. Mottley said the construction of a tissue culture lab will begin soon which will significantly boost exports of some crops to the international market.
Ms. Mottley also spoke of plans to expand aqua culture and marine farming.
