Junior Doctors Working with QEH Management to Resolve Grievances

The Junior Doctors’ Association (JDA) says it’s working with management of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital to resolve a number of matters.

This follows a closed door meeting yesterday after which some of the doctors told Starcom Network News they are giving QEH management three weeks to deal with their key concern which is the length of their shift.

The doctors had previously complained of being burnt out from 32 hour shifts which they said was unhealthy for them and unsafe for patients.

However in an official statement President of the JDA Dr. Andre Graham says it has been brought to their attention that statements were made purporting to be the stance of the Association following a closed-door meeting.

Dr. Graham says that any statements made were done without the knowledge or support of the JDA.
He adds that the Association wishes to distance itself from such comments.

The JDA President says his members appreciate the willingness of the administration of the QEH to have met with the Association and are of the view that this augurs well for robust relations.

According to Dr. Graham the residents of the QEH look forward to continued open and productive talks with the hospital Board and all other relevant entities, working towards an agreeable solution for the issues tabled.
