Bunji Wins Road March

Bunji Garlin has taken the Road March title in Trinidad and Tobago.

Bunji, whose real name is Ian Alvarez, won with the song “Hard Fete’ that was co-written with his wife Fay-Ann Lyons.

This is the second Road March title for Bunji, but is first as a solo artiste.

In 2019, Bunji won the title in collaboration with Skinny Fabulous and Machel Montano.

This year’s winning song was played 135 times at judging points during the Trinidad carnival parade, while the early front-runner in the road march race, “Come Home” by Nailah Blackman and Skinny Fabulous  was played 106 times to earn the runner up spot.

In third place was the duo of Machel Montano and Patrice Roberts with the song “Like Yuh Self” which was played 50 times.

Bunji spoke to Starcom Network News’ Shantelle Legall-Gibson from the US where is scheduled to receive an award tonight.

He said he was elated at the Road March win and credited his wife for the victory.

He’s already planning for the 2024 Trinidad carnival.
