No Big Public Sector Increase Expected

A university finance expert expects at best only a small pay hike for state employees from current talks given the IMF-endorsed recovery and restructuring program.

UWI Pro-Vice Chancellor and Professor of Finance, Dr. Justin Robinson was speaking to Starcom Network News as public sector pay talks commence this week.

Public sector unions have served notice that given the increase in the cost of living not a just a pay hike but a salary re-grading may be pursued.

Professor Robinson believes the scope for an increase is limited.

He expects there will be some increase but not a big one.
