Staff at the Sanitation Service Authority main depot at Wildey, St. Michael walked off the job this morning over a number of grievances and some of them are demanding the removal the state entity’s manager.
The SSA’s management calls the action disappointing and insist discussions have been taking place on many of these issues.
However, the workers tell Starcom Network News the allowances are a major concern.
Later in the day, one of the spokesmen for the SSA workers told Starcom Network News that after consultation with their representatives at the National Union of Public Workers a return to work was agreed.
SSA Operations Manager Michael Nicholls issued a statement on the industrial action.
Mr. Nicholl insists that management and the board have been seeking to address the workers’ concerns and believes today’s action runs contrary to agreed industrial relations practice.
