Hinkson Denies Any Plan to Quit His Seat Before Year End

Member of Parliament for St. James North Edmund Hinkson dismisses as fake news a report being widely circulated on social media alleging he plans to demit office before year-end.

The report that circulated rapidly on social media today alleges that Mr. Hinkson plans to step down and purports to name a supposed successor. However, in a statement issued this evening, Mr. Hinkson denies he plans to leave Parliament before the end of the year.

His statement says that: “What is being widely circulated about me resigning before the end of this year is fake news, just as much as the fake news which has been circulating over the last week about other National states of affairs. I can only imagine that it emanates from opposition elements trying to fly a kite with no wind blowing”.

Mr. Hinkson points out that he was returned to office less than eight months ago while stressing that he got the second highest percentage of votes after only the Prime Minister. He also lists a number of activities and initiatives he’s undertaking in the community and says that nationally he’s also committed to seeing Rights of Persons with Disabilities legislation through Parliament as an MP and Chairman of the National Advisory Committee to Guide the Establishment of a Commission on Disabilities.
