Chief Executive Officer of the Barbados Agricultural Society, James Paul, is concerned about the possible impact importing bananas from the Dominican Republic can have on local producers.

Mr. Paul told Starcom Network News that efforts are being made to increase banana production in Barbados and that importing bananas could hinder sales for local producers.

Mr. Paul says there needs to be better communication between the entity responsible for granting import permits and local producers.
