The Barbados Association of Medical Practitioners is worried about the surge in covid-19 cases in Barbados.
BAMP President Dr. Lynda Wlliams tells Starcom Network News she’s particularly concerned about the rising number of deaths of older people.
Dr. Williams believes the actual number of cases is much higher than is officially reported.
Meantime, the Ministry of Health and Wellness reports a total of 246 new COVID-19 cases from the 775 tests conducted at laboratories across the island yesterday.
This represents a positivity rate of 31 percent which is down from the more than 40 percent rate at the height of the surge immediately after the end of the Crop Over Festival.
Up to yesterday there were 69 people in isolation facilities and three thousand, 655 in home isolation, while covid-19 fatalities stood at 529.
